I'm barely making the deadline for Bloggers' Quilt Festival. Better late than never, right? It was easy to choose a quilt this year. This bold and colorful West Indies quilt makes me smile every time. And if I had any doubts about sharing this one, the approval of a black cat would dispel them in an instance.
I originally posted about it here. One thing I like about this quilt is the fussy cutting. It really changes the feel of the print. By separating the design elements with a solid sashing, I have given them space to shine. The print lends itself to other types of fussy cutting too. Stack 'n' Whack or hexagon flowers would suit it perfectly.Because pink and yellow are so predominant, I added the pieced border using all the prints in the collection. For me, it adds a bit of relief albeit in a slightly chaotic fashion. A lot of happy energy in this quilt.
Head over to Amy's blog and browse through all the other entries. There is a great deal of inspiration so be prepared to spend some time. Thank you, Amy, for taking the time to make it possible to see so many wonderful quilts all in one place.
I like that "a lot of happy energy" in this quilt. Thanks for sharing.
