The Mod Podge Madness took a break over the holidays. I would say that the jars sat lonely and forgotten on the shelf but that hardly seems true when there are so many of them congregating in one place. Who knows what they were up to--probably hatching plans for more mayhem. They were certainly ready for this spur of the moment project. Over the weekend I found colorful luggage tags at Michael's for $2.
I got out some scraps, some Fabric Mod Podge and a brush. I use aluminum foil whenever I work with the Fabric Mod Podge. You need to apply a generous but even coat to your scraps which you cannot do without getting it onto the surface of your work area. Plus the fabric edges that might become glued down, easily lift off the foil.
After they dried, I took out the Matte Mod Podge. (No need to switch types here. I just prefer the smell of regular Mod Podge to the Fabric Mod Podge.) I used it to glue the fabric to thick card stock. The card stock was business card size and a perfect fit for the tag's pocket. (The tags have pockets on two sides. The information side and the other side. Instead of a photo, these tags showcase my fabric favorites.)
Once they dried, I carefully trimmed the fabric to the card stock and checked for any additional trimming that might be necessary. I did have to trim a few pieces slightly so that they fit inside the stitching for the tag's window. Then all I had to do was insert them into the tag's pocket.
I can't think of a better way to recognize your luggage. These will stand up to a lot of handling. There is a plastic guard over the fabric to protect it. And you could swap it out with each new fabric collection from your favorite designer.
So...what do you think? Will you make some?
These are so wonderful!! You come up with the best ideas!!! Thanks for the foil tip too!!!

These are great:) I have been using hot pink braided ribbon on my luggage but these are sooo much better- oh, the possibilities:)
ReplyDeleteI say you got a winner here, Miss Melissa P.
ReplyDeleteI love it. I can slip a business card in behind the fabric if someone has to see my name, but now instead of advertising my name and address, I am advertising just how chic I am even down to my luggage tag. Bravo. I hope you put these in your etsy shop. Come Christmas shopping time I would train your cat to continuously hit the "refresh" button on etsy.(of course, ignorant as I am, I am assuming etsy has a refresh button), they would make great stocking stuffers. Bravo, bravo. Carolina
So amazing, so gorgeous!!
