The release of new fabric collections often means the release of new patterns. Jane Sassaman has released a new pattern to coincide with the release of Garden Divas. It's called Pretty Perfect Pocket Purse. If you're looking for a pattern that is easily customized, look no further. The front pocket is your blank slate to quilt or embellish however you wish. Mixing and matching fabrics adds to the dramatic flair.
Below is a closeup of the bag I made using trims already in my stash. You can see how the use of a polyester braided bias and a looped trim change the feel of the bag. Golden rick rack would have been a great accent to the iris but alas, it was not in my stash and the Christmas countdown does not allow for never ending trips to the store.
Once the bag has been gifted, I'll show some photos of the entire project. And maybe by then, I'll have made one for myself. Because this bag is more than pretty. It's very practical too.
Go visit my friend Jane. Tell her I sent you. And buy yourself a perfect pattern to keep you organized in the new year.

Pretty bag and fabric.
ReplyDeleteSomething about those colors!!!! I'm loving it!!!
ReplyDeleteI went to Jane's site. Some of her botanicals reminded me of those photos you took of the exotic looking flowers. I think your bag is perfection. I am glad to see that you made it with what was at hand in your studio already rather than making another trip to the store. I have been toying around with the idea of spending all of 2011 not going to the store and using all of my supplies - that is until December of next year when I would have a Christmas blowout at some very lucky craft store (perhaps Purl Soho?). ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the pattern information. I just may have to purchase that cute pattern. LOVE your fabric choices for the bag you made. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteThe sneak peak of the bag looks great - so bright and fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern. It's different to others around but I guess Jane's sumptious fabrics inspire something outstanding. Your bag is looking good. Someone is very lucky!
