It's That Time of Year

Happy Winter Solstice!  Or Summer Solstice to all of you in the Southern Hemisphere.  Our modern lives are so rushed.  Technology is unavoidable and insistent leading to a constant buzzing demand for our attention.  We often fail to take the time to step back and reflect.  But I think the Solstice and Yule are ideal for this.

The holiday season is filled with To Do lists and obligations, parties and presents, friends and families.  There is rarely time to spend in quiet reflection.  Instead, we drag ourselves through to New Year's Day and collapse in exhaustion.

Before we make resolutions for the coming year, or attend the umpteenth social obligation of the season, let's take time to consider the following:
  • Our lives are limited.  Our time is limited.  But the influence of our lifetime on others can be unlimited.
  • The more we give of ourselves to others, the more open we are to receive additional blessings.
  • We have the power to choose--good over evil, love over apathy, hope over despair.
