Happy New Year!
"Life is a series of collisions with the future; it is not the sum of what we have been, but what we yearn to be." ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset
Sitting down to write this post, I got lost in all the photos stored on my computer. Perhaps lost is not the best word. Overwhelmed would be more accurate. Shockingly, I had to admit that I've been a whirling dervish with all the sewing and crafting and quilting and hooking. I know. You'd think I would have clued into that by now. After all, we are close to the 300th post on the blog and the blog is full of stuff that's been done around here. But I don't look at it all at once. I'm constantly moving forward and looking towards the next potential project. I'm always wishing for more time.
You could say that my inner goth girl is cozy with Death, knowing that time ends for all of us. Or that my inner mystic spends time contemplating the Mysteries. Or even that my inner crone just wants to rest for a good long time. And all of that would be true. I am cognizant of the brevity of life, of the uncertainty of my days.
They spur me on, these background thoughts. Their subconscious urgings remind me that putting things off is a bad idea. Because with all the little creative things I do, most of which get shared here, I grow, change, move forward. My feet take me further down my path to places I've never been and only dreamed of in the past. I won't get where I'm going if I stand still.
Thank you to all of you who visit here--for stopping by to see what comes of all the whirling this dervish does. I appreciate the time you spend here, as well as your comments and emails. Being a part of this online creative community has been a great adventure. And I'm looking forward to more of the same in 2011!
May your New Year be filled with creativity. May you find unexpected blessings and be surprised by laughter in the days and months ahead.

happy new year
