A little free time, some of Jennifer's newest fabric collection, a little Santana in the background. That's all it took. The wonderful large print is Madeline in pink from the Queen Street collection. Also from the new collection is Jodi which I used for the strap. The interior and the covered button are from past collections. You can see how well they all play together.
Because this bag is for my seven year old niece, I added ribbons and buttons to a key chain ring for a little fun. An extra large fabric covered button sits over the stitching used to secure the Velcro.
The Madeline print appeals to me for many reasons. Not the least of which are the large stylized flowers and spirals--so fun and lighthearted. Part of my process is listening to the fabric and what it has to say. This print said "Pick me! Pick me!" After that, it never quieted down until the bag was put together. The bag itself is very simple but the drama it provokes is big. It comes from letting the fabric shine.
Working with large prints can be intimidating. Especially if you aren't used to them. But if you give them half a chance, they will steal you away from your mundane world and show you how to relax and let Life unfold. And that is no small thing.
Oh WOW! It looks AMAZING! SO GROOVY!!! I like the little charms. So FAR OUT like WOOOWW! =D I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this fabric! Woo hoo!

I am finally home - and I love getting back to all the blogs when I am greeted by all the colorful wonder in your posts. The bag turned out great - the finishing so neat! Are you using the new "machine"? I read back through the posts I had missed - what did you do for quilt market? Do you always make things for it? Some day I would love to go.
