The weekend has been quietly busy here at Casa P. In the midst of cat baths, crafty projects and crocheting, I keep finding excuses to go outside. Mostly to check on this datura flower.
While I am enjoying every stage of its unfurling, I am eager to experience its nocturnal perfume. The flower itself is darkly magical with its leathery outer layer and curling ends. In my anticipatory state words come to mind easily--mesmerizing, enthralling, spellbinding. All quite appropriate to a plant with such an infamous history.
I hope you are enjoying the weekend and finding time for creativity, or at least for relaxation.
I wish I could fly into that flower. When we lived in Florida we had a huge angel's trumpet tree. The scent that came from those upside down flowers was intoxicating. Mine was yellow. I would have loved to have a deep purple one like yours. I would also love to be able to recreate that magic in fabric. Last, but not least ... yes I have that Kaffe book. Did you ever doubt it?
