Occasionally, you fall for a fabric, not for what it is, but for what it is not. In this case, a fabric that looks like flocked velvet but is easy and forgiving quilting cotton. Jennifer Paganelli's Amanda Fleur from the Pretty Please collection looks rich and decadent. This color is nearly impossible to find and I only had one half yard to play with.
Just the right amount, when paired with black handkerchief linen. This is McCalls 5882. I lengthened it just a bit and used ribbon for the tie. No other modifications to the pattern were necessary. I'm quite pleased with the end result--a dress that looks fancy but has all the comfort of cotton and linen.
that is just stunning!!
ReplyDeleteMelissa - the "fake flocked" fabric is beautiful, but what made the dress was pairing it with the black. Stunning. Carolina
