What is it about scraps? I can't seem to get through a week without using them in one form or another. I've been busy with several things I must do before the holidays arrive. While I am making progress with those things, I really want to spend time playing in the "studio", doing whatever comes to mind.
To placate my crazy child, I play with scraps. Mug rugs will make excellent gifts--if I can part with them. These two are particular favorites. Sassaman scraps add an incredible amount of drama in a small space. Don't you agree?
But this is the project that calls out the loudest. The Sis Boom Spiderweb quilt is ready for hand quilting. I'm looking forward to using my perle cotton threads and some primitive stitches. It's a really big carrot that dangles in front of me, urging me to finish up the other stuff.
What's calling to you right now? Any carrots? Or is it all whips and lashes?
I hate to sound like a bummer, but the only carrots I have to "focus" on right now is the carrots for Thanksgiving. We are having one of the boarding students from China stay with us for ten days. Should be fun. I think the "primitive" stitch idea sounds very promising. You know ... I think I am going to finish up this comment and set up a scrap heap - that way I can steal 5 minutes here and there and just "color" at my sewing machine. Why didn't I think of this method of mediation sooner? It is obvious that I need you. Thanks for the tip. Carolina
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your progress on the spiderweb. I am having a hard time deciding what to do next.. things I want to do vs what I should do. Hard.
ReplyDeleteThose mug rugs really show that every inch of Janes fabrics have precious details. I really like the stitch you've used on them. You're spider web is going to be sooo beautiful and quilting with perle is such a lovely way to pass time. I'm whipping up a quick birthday quilt, that's calling out to me whenever I have a free moment and there's always my pretty hexagons as my carrot.
