Things were going along smoothly. I got a box shipped, obtained a new chair for sewing (more on that later) and made progress on the sewing I was planning for the day. I even spent some time outdoors with Stinka and Pete enjoying the sunshine, something that has been missing for days.
And then........I was sitting in my new chair, talking on the telephone to Mr. P about dinner plans and grocery shopping, feeling relaxed and happy about the new chair, when all of the sudden I saw a gray mouse disappear behind the bookcase. And I screamed. It was more of an "Ackkkkkkkk!!!" than an "Eeeekkkk!!" and was quickly followed by "There's a mouse in the house!!!!" As Mr. P did the whole "It's just a mouse" thing, the mouse came out from under the TV stand and washed his whiskers...right in plain sight! So, naturally, I screamed again. About that time, Mr. P decided he had another call to take and promptly got off the phone.
After I gave the mouse a lecture, he scurried over to the fireplace and went into hiding. He hasn't been seen since. And I'm hoping we never see him again. We have traps set and sonic devices emitting anti-rodent frequencies. If I find this mouse has been in the fabric, it's going to be war.
I'm sorry to laugh but it's such a funny post. I like the way it washed it's whiskers in front of you. Where'a Stinka and Petey when you need them? I haven't seen any rodent activity at my house, most likely because we have a big snake in our roof. I hear it slithering around, very creepy but people say they're good because they keep rats and mice away. Maybe you should get a snake? I like the sound of your proper chair!!
ReplyDeleteOh Nooooooo. NOT a mouse. That is the one and only thing I can not handle being in the vicinity of. I couldn't even read your post without using my hand to cover up the photograph. Honestly. I need advanced warning if you are ever going to do that again.
ReplyDeleteToday, I happen to pick up off the side of the road these large, bumpy, green fruits that I had no idea what they were. I was on a mission to figure out what they are. Apparently they are Hedge Apples (osage orange.) They are beautiful in their strangeness and have a slight orange smell to them. Upon googling them, I discovered that some folks in the midwest swear by their ability to repel spiders, cockroaches, and ... you guessed it ... MICE. I would be ordering truck loads if I were you.
I don't think I could sleep knowing that a little mouse is in my stuff. I will begin praying for you. Seriously.
Looking forward to your NEXT post - hopefully we have seen the last of the little mouse portraits. Carolina
You do need Stinka and Petey to have a visit. I cannot help it but the little whisker washing is pretty endearing but you know consider the source and my mouse story, from eeeeek! To awwww!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, hanging out in the house is bad enough - obviously was not invited to the party... but the fabric! Well, now that's taking things too far! He's got to go!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday (belated!!!!!!!!!!!!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Birthday Melissa!! You are such an inspiration to me!!! Have a wonderful year!
