Easy Comfort

During the de-furring of this quilt, I realized that I hadn't shown you pictures of it completed.  It's been done long enough to accumulate a fine layer of soft white cat hair.  I hurried to get the fur off and rush the quilt out in the sun for a couple of quick photos.  (Sorry about the lighting.  I know it's a bit too bright, but you get the idea.)

This is Anna Maria Horner's Innocent Crush collection.  The Loves Me, Loves Me Not and the Woodcut are my favorites.  I chose to use them in a linear way to accent their curvy lines.  Notice how it creates movement without any intricate piecing.  Larger prints are a great way to reduce your sewing time but still provide plenty of drama.  You just need to add small touches to make them pop.  Like the two strips of squares in various coordinating prints that divide the two side panels.  Not only does this break up the large swaths of print, it also pulls out the various colors in the Loves Me, Loves Me Not.
I love this quilt.  It's my snuggle-up-in-front-of-the-TV quilt.  Apparently, it also has the cat's approval.  Which we all know is a sure sign of a job well done.

  3. Currently, Melissa, I have Italian Roast beans in my espresso machine. Obviously I need to switch to WHATEVER is in your espresso machine so that I can produce as much as you do. I am not only impressed with how much you do, but also how well you do it. On this quilt, which turned out fabulous, those smaller squares running up and down really do make the pattern pop. Your eye is good ... to be able to see the need for those squares BEFORE it gets pieced is a true skill. Carolina

  4. It's very pretty. Everything has a fur coat around here, whether it started with one or not.

  6. I'm glad you all are in favor of this quilt. Unfortunately, I have no extra caffeine to share. :) You will have to find your own. But seriously, I find that unleashing the creative spirit is a bit like trying to tame a tornado. Sounds like a good plan but better to just stay one step ahead of it.
