With Christmas only three and a half weeks away it is high time I get to making those hand made gifts. My almost five year old nephew needs something just for him. His sister has plenty of goodies made by Aunt Melissa, or Aunt Leta as they have nicknamed me. The girly stuff is easy to come up with. The boyish stuff...not so much. Apparently, they fight over the Pointy Kitty I made last year. To the point where softie surgery is required.
The remedy is this monster softie. Being made of fleece and polyester fiberfill, he's very huggable. And he can go anywhere--down flights of stairs, on car rides, to bed, etc. Perfect for a little boy with lots of energy.
To make him, I simply drew one half of the outline freehand on freezer paper. I placed this piece on a fold of the fleece fabric and cut out the first piece. Same thing for the back piece. Then I cut out eyes from scraps of fleece and appliqued them to the front side. All that remained was sewing the pieces together, turning, stuffing and stitching up the opening.
I'm anxious to hear how this creature is received. But first, more gifts to put together before that box can ship. Time's a wastin', as my grandfather used to say.
Great Idea! I'll keep this project in mind! Thanks...
