Remember the braided rug? Want to make one for yourself? Maybe you'd like a unique centerpiece or set of placemats for your holiday table. Head over to Free Spirit Fabric's blog for the tutorial link. (If it takes too long to load the first time around, try hitting the refresh button. If you still can't load it, send me an email and I will make sure you aren't left out of the fun.)
The placemat/centerpiece seen in the photo above is made in Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane fabrics. The golden hues are a great holiday accent to any table. Use Tanya Whelan's Delilah fabrics in the reds and greens for a more traditional Christmas look. Or liven up a New Year's table with a centerpiece size in Sis Boom Queen Street. Endless possibilities. Just endless.
(Quick note: If you have Honey Bun pre-cuts sitting around, you're ready to get braiding right now!)
Enjoy! And share your pictures! I would love to see your interpretation.

ReplyDeleteI went right to it without any problems, Melissa, The PDF downloaded instantly - & I LOVE that the instructions are clear and that the photos are too. So many times I will skip over a possibly great tutorial because they have given only postage sized photos to refer to. Yours are nice and big.You did a very nice job. It is good to see your work appear elsewhere on the web. Maybe someday I can go to the Houston Quilt Market and see you at your very own booth. That would be, as my teenager would say, "tight". ReplyDeleteI'm glad there weren't any difficulties with the download. And thanks for the compliments. I try to keep the pictures clear and large enough to show detail--otherwise, not much point of using all that file space.
ReplyDeleteAnd Carolina--if we ever do meet up at Market one day, we better reserve enough time to chat. I have a sneaky suspicion that two minutes might quickly become two hours. :) Lots of great ideas and encouragement to share. Hope the holidays are moving along smoothly for you.
These look great!! I love the idea of using the fabric in a different way, responding to the colours and not the patterns. I'll definately be having a go at some of these.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial and idea!
