I've given up on summer completely. Now I'm wondering if I need to give up on fall as well. One thing about these record breaking cool temperatures--it's great weather to curl up with a book. Or do some yarn work. Yesterday, however, was for sewing.
We recently purchased this ottoman at IKEA. I chose the dark gray cover. It will look better for a lot longer than any of the other choices. Light upholstery does not hold up in this house for some reason. Pets are one. But to be honest, so is eating in front of the TV.
In my stash there was some of Jane's Prairie Gothic fabric in the Home Dec weight. Perfect for this quick project. The Potato Vine fabric on the top is one of my all time Sassaman favorites. The top is a rectangle with rounded corners. A six inch band is attached to it. Then an eleven inch skirt was added and hemmed. And voila! The Home Dec weight fabric will hold up well even after many washings. And the one piece slipcover means that I can change it up any time I want.
What a gorgeous slipcover! I love the top piece of fabric the best. And what a gorgeous practical idea!
