It was a busy weekend here at Casa P. A whole range of projects from yard work to furniture assembly to garage door openers to rearranging the living room. In the midst of all that chaos certain things were discarded. Among those things were some old pant hangers. It's a sign of my creative ADD that I immediately rescued them with thoughts of a Mod Podge makeover.
Here's how to do this quick and easy project. To prep the hanger sand it lightly with 220 sandpaper. The interior, the part that grips the pants (or skirt or fabric or whatever you are hanging) does not need any attention as it will remain untreated. If you're obsessive compulsive, by all means, sand it and paint it to match. But it isn't necessary.
Measure the flat exterior portion of the hanger and cut two fabric strips to those precise measurements. Using Mod Podge, apply the fabric to the hanger. (For the Sis Boom hanger I also applied grosgrain ribbon to the edges of each side. You could embellish it with other trim of your choosing just as easily. Say sequins or miniature pom pom trim.) If you want a little something extra, use one to two coats of Sparkle Mod Podge to finish the fabric pieces. Otherwise, coat with regular Mod Podge.
These made over hangers would be a fun gift for the college bound. Or for a house warming gift. Or just because.
